How to Set Up Fotric 462 Blackbody Calibrator for Fotric 226B Fotric 223B Temperature Screening Cameras

1. How to set up the Fotric 462 blackbody?

2. What temperature of the calibrator should be used for temperature scan thermal camera?

The temperature of the calibrator is up to the thermal camera models. 

  • 40 degree C is recommended for Fotric 226B and Fotric 223B cameras
  • About SeekScan, one needs to ask SeekScan to find out their reference temperature, about 41 degree C
  • About Flir elevated temperature screening thermal cameras, one needs to check with the integrator

 

How to Set the Blackbody with Control Panel TCN4S

Below are the normal operation procedures to set:

Step1:

Plug power cable into the Blackbody, and the indicator lamp will be on:

Step2: 

Press the Power button, and the panel will be on, showing SV and PV temperature numbers and temperature unit (C or F)

PV is the black object’s current temperature.  SV is the set temperature, which need to be set to 40 C degrees or 104 F degrees.

Step 3A:

If customer prefer C as temperature unit, tap right direction button to adjust multiple digit of SV number, and then tap up and down buttons to adjust the number value to 40 degree C.

Wait at least 5 minutes to preheat the blackbody, until the PV temperature is stabilized as same as SV’s

You can use the Blackbody now.

Step 3B:

If customer prefer to use F as temperature unit, press mode button for about 4 seconds, until you see “PAR2” on the panel. 

Tap the mode button repeatedly, until you see “UNIT” as below picture.

Tap the up direction button to switch to F unit.

Press the mode button for about 4 seconds, until it changes back to the temperature value interface. Now the SV temperature will be automatically reset to 32 degree F ( 0 degree C).

  

Tap right direction button to adjust multiple digit of SV number, and then tap up and down buttons to adjust the numbers value to 104 degree F.

Wait at least 5 minutes to preheat the blackbody, until the PV temperature is stabilized as same as SV’s

  

You can use the Blackbody now.

Step 4:

Place the blackbody at similar distance where you defined to take the last temperature measurement before people walk away. Make sure the blackbody can be seen by the infrared thermal camera. You may place the blackbody at the top left corner as shown in the picture above. Turn on the thermal camera and enable "Blackbody calibration" in the System Settings of the WLIR software.
